The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver has just released its Housing Price Index for January, 2010.  Here's how prices on the Westside are looking over the past year:

December, 2009 ended with very low inventory levels, which is typical.  The amount of listings coming to market over the past month has far exceeded December levels.  However, the number of sales have dipped from December levels in all three categories.  Sales of Detached houses are down by 23.3%, sales of Attached homes are down by 51.6%, and sales of Condominiums are down by 24.9%.  And yet, there are still some multiple offers out there. 

As we are only 10 days away from the 2010 Olympics, and you can already feel the "buzz" around the City, it is quite possible that much attention will be turned to the games, unless someone really needs to buy right now.  We don't quite know what to expect, and getting around to do business will be interesting.  Stay tuned for February Stats next month.
